Up until very recently mixing metals when accesorizing had been a major fashion faux pas. I really don't play by the rules, so as you might well know by now I'll just pile them all on. However, it now seems there are certain criteria that can help you decide which metals to wear, besides your mood when getting dressed that particular morning. I love how finally it now seems all fashion rules are shifting, white after labor day anyone? Sure, why not?! Gold and silver, on the same wrist? bring it on!
I've gone through everything. I've had my silver, platinum and white gold moments. I went through a brief stint of rose gold, and have recently gone through a major gold moment that lasted a couple of years. Today, I'm open to mix'em up and switch 'em every other day.
This dilemma has haunted women for years, so I recently decided to make my very own little research on the subject. Here's the scoop of what I found:
1. Determine your skin type and accessorize accordingly.
1. Determine your skin type and accessorize accordingly.
How do I do this? Easy peasy, you ready? I thought this one was so cool: Do you know that really thin skin around your wrist that will let you see through to your veins? Well, if your veins are bluish your skin type is Cool. If your veins are on the greenish side your skin type is Warm.
White gold, platinum and silver tones favor cool skin types. While gold, brass, copper and pewter favor warm skin types. Same goes for stones. Diamonds favor cool skin types, while pearls favor warm skin types. See, it was easy.
2. Silver tone jewelry will look more appropriate when worn in colder climates and seasons. Think of the first color that comes to mind when you think of a snowy cold winter? White pops right into my head. Same way as yellow and orange jump to my mind when I picture a warm summer evening by the ocean, therefore gold tone jeweley will look more appropriate when worn in warmer latitudes and seasons. I came up with an exception for this rule: Holidays. Everyone should wear gold on christmas!
3. And for the final and most important finding, please pardon my french:
Whether it's shoes, belts, jewelry, bags, whole outfits or makeup for that matter, wear what you feel beautiful and comfortable in, and just please mix up those gold and silver bangles once and for all!!!

Screw the rules and wear whatever the hell you like and
how you like it!
Faithful to my If you can't decide get them both! philosophy, I can occasionally squeeze in small splurges like these Agatha Paris teardrop necklaces and Brandy Melville Pyramid ones which I got in both gold and silver. Of course, these babies below, are another story...
